Resurrection, New Life and Roommates

i love Easter.

i that it comes in the midst of spring, new life bursting at the seams.
sunshine (theoretically) coming through all the windows after months of dreariness and cold.

spring is beautiful, and it speaks to me of new life.
and i must say that new life is my favorite thing!

Easter is all about God giving us a chance to live a different kind of life, a new life marked by gratefulness that leads to generosity and peace and joy and ultimately love because he was willing to endure everything ugly and selfish and evil for us.

for us to be able to move away from all those things and towards God himself.

God has done that for us, God has done that for me.

i love that. i loved to be loved like that.

so there's that...but there is also this:

i love my roommates, my new family on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

they are kind, and funny and wise. they have taught me how to listen to myself, how to better listen to they have cuddled on the couch with me, helped me open jars, handed me tissues when i've been crying, passed the peace to me at church and helped me finish crossword puzzles.

they have helped me figure out God's will (or rather helped me get through what i think is God's will when i didn't understand it),have gotten me to think about how to follow God, how to hear him and how to knit.

and all of this to say that i'm grateful for them , even though sometimes we disagree on theology and where to put the can opener, or whether we should use a swiffer versus a broom.

because i think that living in community, sharing yourself with others, and letting them know you and knowing them has lots of life wrapped up in it. and that is very good.

it's my hope that i could be an agent for good, newness of life for them as they have been for me.

if i could do that, i think i could be on the right track to loving more people, more people that God has called me to love. and that would be very good.

Jesus, giver of new life, please help me to do that. amen.

Happy Easter Ya'll!
