and all i can say is that they have been one of the biggest gifts, they have
helped me enter into rest, and worship.
Obadiah:
Obadiah is in first grade but already knows everything there is to know. He is funny. He is wise. He is an entrepreneur (he made over $30 bucks at a lemonade stand!). and when he is very serious, he make me laugh. and i think that he reminds me not to take myself to seriously and saving your pennies leads to something big.
Malachi:
Malachi is three. He wants to be Spiderman when he grows up. He likes to wake up early and come talk to me. He likes me to go places with me, like the grocery store. and when he is very tired, he likes to cuddle and sometimes fall asleep on me. he is a good lover of people. he reminds me that love can be simple, and fun. and that cuddling is good.
The Girls:
i was a cabin leader at Old Oak Ranch last week. I was in charge of four very different and very wonderful girls. they worshiped without abandon, they prayed like they though God could hear them, and they told fart jokes and ate more candy than is healthy.
during small groups one day we were talking about letting God be in control of our lives and while discussing what that might look like. someone brought up the fact that they believed that if we let God be in control of our lives everything would be perfect. my beautiful and shy friend, Hannah, said this "i don't think that's true. i think that we can let God be in control of our lives and bad things will still happen to us, and to people we love. and we won't understand it. but i think we can still trust God. I think he still loves us."
i think Hannah is right.
i love these kids, and i love what they continue to show me. and i love how they make me smile. i think God must smile like that when he thinks of us, all goofy and awkward, trying to "work out our salvation".
I'm glad you're staying with us Linda. We love you!
